March 9, 200818 yr This first started out as a little melancholic theme over(actually under) arpeggios, which wrote and then left alone for about three weeks, and then completed as a collection of my thoughts during that time. It deals mostly with hope and friendship(not always in a good way). I hope you enjoy it.:D Thoughts.pdf Thoughts.mid
March 10, 200818 yr This piece... is like a quilt :). Each phrase in this piece was fairly well written. I just didn't feel like everything came together. I'll give you some examples: nice opening at :34... you move to a waltz feel, which, in my opinion, wasn't set up by the preceding phrases at :43... well written, but the triplet figure didn't fit what had already happened. leading to :53... i felt that a climax with a humongous statement of the theme could be used here :53... I felt like I lost something... the triplets... as I said above, a huge climax would probably eliminate my feeling of loss. 1:26... I felt that the rising and falling harmonic lines didn't convey much feeling at all 1:48... The feel of the piece suddenly picked up tempo... maybe a little lead in would benefit here 2:10... well-written.. I couldn't see how that fit with the rest of the piece I'll suggest two things: 1.) Since this piece is called "Thoughts" you can keep it like this to convey the feeling of shifting thoughts 2.) Have a really strong statement of the theme so that the whole piece can tie in with itself. Either of the two should work, in my opinion. So good luck! :D
March 12, 200818 yr This is a very simple piece and would be good as an etude for a intermediate student. You have some real nice dynamics in the piece and some nice tempo changes as well, all of which will help to hone the skills of the player. Ron

No.1 is actually the way my thoughts seem to work, but I understand that frequent changes do sometimes sound a bit... stange. I think I will leave this as it is for now, but I will keep the fleuncy thing in mind for my next piece.:D This is a very simple piece and would be good as an etude for a intermediate student. I wrote this piece to suite my skill level, as I have only taken up piano as a second instrument recently.
