Cloud Forest

Here is one of my latest compositions. After watching a Discovery Channel show on forests I was inspired to write a little piece haha. Let me know what you think.

Ooh, thats lovely! Could we see some sheet music? (pretty please :))

p.s. a side note, what program are you using for the sounds? Is that GPO?

Thanks! I actually do have a score, I will have to find out how to post it on forums as I am kind of new to posting other things besides messages on forums haha. I am using Motu Symphonic Orchestra libraries, and Cubase as a Sequencer. I am actually playing each part because I am too lazy to enter notes in for the comp to play back, so the timing is not perfect 100 percent of the time.

Really cool, really beautiful. I can see the clouds rightin front of me. For me you doing a nice job of painting the mood. I really loved it. Nice job with using the orchestra, just overall nice job.

WELCOME TO YC!! by the way. HAVE FUN!! I suggest you go around comment on others' works and make some friends (we are really welcoming here.:))

Thanks tenor, this site has been awesome so far.

This piece is very mystical and relaxing. You did a great job. :)

Very nice indeed. You've portrayed your subject matter well, in my opinion - I can almost feel the mist on my face. If I were to hear this as background music on television or in film, it would enhance my enjoyment of what I was watching, as any good score does for me. Don't know if that's what you want to do with your music, but you could probably do it right now and make a living. Nice job.

Beautiful work. I was hooked right from the first motive.

If I were to be ultra critical, I'd question the use of Gb as opposed to G natural in the descending flute melody at 0:21 - my ear found it to be slightly out of place given the material that precedes it. This effect could of course be deliberate, however, and I don't mean to present anything other than a personal take in making this comment.

Aside from that, it's a lovely piece with some great sonorities and melodic ideas on show. As Lee says above, it's generally of a high enough calibre to stand up to scrutiny in the professional sphere, which is certainly something to be proud of.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks everyone for the comments. Mike, I tried replacing the Gb with G natural, and since G natural is not in the key of Bb minor it sounded out of place. I am not sure what you are saying; when the descending melody hits the Gb, the accompaniment in the background is centered around a Bb chord, so there will be some dissonance as it is a Minor 6th interval ( Bb to Gb) but it resolves down to the 5th. Was it another note that you meant that could replace the Gb?

It's mainly the transition from Db major directly before with the augmented fourth (G natural), I think. It's by no means "wrong", just making a subjective suggestion. :)

Alright, thanks for the clarification.

Interesting piece ascendance01! I agree that you portrayed really well your subject. The work sounds like a film score. I am not sure if I like the length of the piece. I think it would sound more complete if it was a bit more extended, but that is not like saying that the piece isn't ok as it is now.

Congratulations for creating a work with a beautiful atmosphere! Nice sounds by the way!
