A Forgotten Legend
Ok, so this competition I'm going to try and enter has these abbrev. and I don't know what they mean. =/ -> FL1 bt2; Oboe 1 bi2; Cl. Mib; Cl. Sib 1,2&3; Alto Clar. Mib; Bass Clar Sib; Contra bass clar. Sib; Tub. Mib & ut. Mainly, what is bt2, bi2, Mib, Sib and ut? :( EDIT: Also, what Trumpet would you say they want, Bb or C, and Horn in F? "Cornet 1 & 2; Trpt. 1,2&3. Horn 1,2,3&4;" Plus, they say "and all instruments in the percussion section including, if required, a piano, harp, or synthesizer." What percussion instruments can I have then? James H.
Looks to me like Mib means Eb and Sib means Bb. I imagine ut means "others" or "ect." (Do Re Mi Fa So La Si) bt2 and bi2 I am not sure about.
A Forgotten Legend
Thanks. The Mib/Sib makes sense now. ^^' EDIT: Also, what Trumpet would you say they want, Bb or C? Flint
I'm clueless as to the bt/bi as well, but perhaps they are indicating optional parts?
Guest DOFTS
When I hear BT in regards to flute I think of the distance between the blow hole and the tone hole. How To Calculate Flute Holes
A Forgotten Legend
Maybe its saying optional 2 part? (EDIT: Oops, missed that someone already said this. srry.) The competition is Belgium if that makes a difference. =P
blueygh2
Having had a look at the dutch version of the text citing what instruments might be used, I found the following: Picc.;Fl.1&2;Hobo 1&2;Engelse Hoorn;Cl.Mib;Cl.Sib 1,2 &3;Altclar.Mib;Basclar.sib;... (list continuing) That means bt2 and bi2 are some kind of typos, and actually it means Flutes 1&2, and Oboe 1&2 Hope that solves your problem EDIT: In the french version of the text, it's correct as well (piccolo ; fl
