oriental composition

Featured Replies

Hello !

I'd like to have some comments on a composition I finnished recently.

For information I've been using "east west ra" for all the ethnic part and also "stormdrum" for the percussions...the piano is a Steinway B

Concerning the mix, there's no spatialisation and it may suffer from a very bad EQ but I don't have any monitoring system yet to fix this, so it will be done later

music number 3 "sans titre"

Pretty nice piece, creates a nice mood and atmosphere. However, I don't know how "oriental" it really sounds. I'm actually hearing a lot of India, a lot of Egypt, and a bit of Africa, and not much orient at all. There's also a fair bit that I don't think could be identified with any particular ethnic music tradition. None of this is necessarily a problem; however, if your goal is to create authentic ethnic music, I would recommend listening more and doing some more research.

Hi Nhomas and thanks for answearing

your analysis is correct however my goal was absolutelly not to create authentic ethnic music (I wouldn't see the point of this). Maybe I should have been more precise in my previous message but I thought it was obvious enough judging from the structure and the instruments I used.

Anyway I'm glad you liked :)

Another track will be uploaded on my page soon in a very different style
