April 25, 200817 yr Wow, you're going to play this for children? That's vaguely evil. Love the rumbling bass and the bizarre wooshy background noises. I guess that this one has the same "static" quality as the piano piece. Since you don't seem to consider that a bad thing, though, I guess it's not a problem.
April 25, 200817 yr Author well, i think children of the future will be used to lullabies like that :D i played it to my sister and she's a child, musically, and she said it reminds her of being drunk and feeling everything swaying around. so, i believe it's a good metaphor for the movement that caries through the piece. it moves like a pulsating swaying circle. contracts, expands. and generally it's just few xylophone lines being played overlapping, counterpoint like, and moving away, overlapping less, spacing, which results in less sound and slower pace. then there's the cut and the higher sounds,like a second image of the tail, tail's tale. thanks for listening and commenting.

April 25, 200817 yr Author i didn't use any synths. it's xylophone sounds - pitched and feedbacked overlapping lines on a sampler in our old fruity loooooops :) and - it moves, while not changing the place, if one can say that.
April 25, 200817 yr Generally a soft synth is any computer generated sound (even when its a piano patch, and not a moog or something). I thought it was something like fruity loops. I've listened to it again, and I find the dynamic range to be small. What dynamic range is there sounds like a volume change in the output, and not lighter playing. Was that intentional? Or was that software holding you back?

Was that intentional?" could explain me this. though, i can say it was intentional after the fact i thought it to be "tail tale". and, as i mentioned, it is like a musical response to some discussions going on the YC forums. it's material is completely reduced to couple of lines that get their colouring from pitching and feedbacking. i change the height of the sound only in the last part, which is very big leap up the tonality. it's a break. and no, i don't think any software imposes limits on its user, it's rather the user might impose limits (or use it not creatively) to his software :)

I'm not sure whether you intended that, I'm just wondering. I like your comment about the software. When I think about it, thats true of any good quality music software.
April 25, 200817 yr Author oh, no, i've changed nothing in recording, it is played as it is played 'live'. i liked the edgy 'louder-more silent' thing in this piece.
