Viral Declamation

Thanks for the link mate ;) I have heard this one before I believe, I don't think I drew any influence from it though. If I drew any ideas from anything it would probably be my strong affinity for Shostakovich and Prokofiev. I'm absolutely in love with their particular harmonic language and have been recently studing the orchestration of Shosta's 5th (that is until the stupid moron checks back Shosty's 10th which he has had all year from my school library lol.) Thanks again for the link though, Bartok's music is still a bit foreign to me. There are a few of his works I enjoy at the moment, but must of his work I guess has to grow on me. You were maybe thinking of the pizz section later in this piece? Anyhoo, thanks a million for your reviews, I'll go now to return the favor :)

I understand some people like my music, other don't. It's your opinion and that's ok. :) I've always had a problem with transitions, so hopefully as a grow and find my own voice I can remedy that issue. Thanks for taking the time to listen, I appriciate it!

Thanks for posting! It takes guts to put something you've worked hard on out there for critique. It also helps others by exposing them to styles and patterns they may not be familiar with.

This really is a very interesting piece of music. It does sound a bit shosty-ish, and yet still manages to sound unique.

I have to say I enjoyed it very much! There were a few bits I'd change, but only really aesthetically. Some passages (only a small number) I found to be a little too dissonant, but this is owed entirely to my somewhat old-fashioned tastes. However, I suspect that changing some of these dissonant moments would probably detrimentally effect the overall feel of the piece, so no need to worry at all!

One of the great things about this piece is that it sounds evil! Even passages that contain melodies which, on their own would probably sound light and fluffy, manage to convey 'evil' connotations with thanks to your excellent harmonic language. In my opinion the harmonies you have used are very unusual, and I can only imagine that they would have taken a hell of a lot of effort to have come up with.

Put simply, this is a very impressive piece of music, and I can only imagine how amazing it would sound with a live orchestra!

It doesn't suprise me that you found bits and pieces of "evil" in this one. The motif came to me after I got fed up with certain events that were plaging my life. Anyway, I'm glad you liked this piece! I thank you for your time you graciously gave to offer advice for me. Again, your comment is appriciated :)

Nice, energetic, powerful chamber music. I enjoy the fragmentary themes and the galloping rhythms; this is something I would use for as film music. The B section loses its energy a bit, but I think this is wouldn't be the case with a live performance. Thumbs up!

That's too bad. I'm sure you've developed quite a bit since way back then.  Didn't you say that, though hard to write, it expressed most, what you wanted to say?  What happened to that notion?  Grew out of it?

The notion remains. I think what was happening was I was beginning to develop my own voice, branching out from traditional major/minor relationships. Building chords with minor 3rds was this new awesome thing for me, and even though I'm the type that usually hates something after writing it, the interval-relationships in this piece are always pleasing to my ear, and ones I still use today.
