Little Serenade for Flute, Clarinet, Viola and Cello

Featured Replies

Hey ... perhaps some of you have seen this already as a supposed String Quartet .. well I decided I should wait with that quartet a bit and changed the piece into a little chamber music called 'Little Serenade' .. for flute, clarinte, viola and cello.

Looking forward to your comments.

You can find it here

You can also go to my webpage and listen to it there, it's in the album called Chamber Music: http://www.misiu.dk/index.php?compositions

... or download it directly from the 'Download music' section, also from my webpage at: http://www.misiu.dk/index.php?download_music

Cheers,

Misiu

This is such a sad piece...at about the 1:00 min mark to about 1:30 I found it to be so sorrowful. Then a bit lighter, a bit hopeful, from there on.

The clarinet from 2:35ish on is beautiful!

I like it with this instrumentation! I found some of the dynamic contrasts to be very effective, especially between 1:08 and 1:20 around the last 30 seconds. If it had some more contrast like that throughout, it would be so much more interesting! Of course, you may have written that in your music and the software just didn't play it back quite as you wrote it (I have that problem) so just let me know.

I am going to go check out your web site now.

Hey giselle,

Thanks a lot for your comment! Well, that is always the big problem, fine tuning the performance, discussing music with a computer isn't one of the easiest tasks ... is it? As you noticed I did try make it sound a bit more realistic by adding some dynamic contrasts here and there ... but didn't spend too much time on it to be honest. It's always a problem ... not easy to teach a computer how to play a phrase etc. I guess it's possible, but it just takes a LOT of time and skills.

I think the performance, interpretation itself is so important and can make an enormous difference. Even a crappy piece can sound marvelous when performed by a great musician, and fantastic composition can sound like scraggy when performed badly  ... therefore I need to find some great muscians to play my crappy pieces  to make them sound interesting.

Thanks again for listening.

Cheers,

Misiu

very fine rendering Misiu! loved the new atmosphere you got here! the new instruments enhanced its fascinating and misterious mood. as a serenade it seems perfectly self-standing, and the vanishing ending is superbly effective. cool!

off topic, i am back and if you wish we can start working on your page!

cheers!
