Unfortunately, the competition is over this year, and the next competition is in about 11 months. But keep it in mind. It's for 18 and under, so next year is probably the last year you can enter.

in_rainbows_109, if you don't want to be helpful, why bother responding?

Because if you don't show people how to help themselves, you will be doomed to listen to them over and over.

I've googled competitions many times, but I've always found more by talking to people than by googling it. This is a website for composers, many of whom like to enter competitions, so I'd say that asking a group of people who enter competitions what competitions one should enter is a pretty good way of helping one's self.

And if you think that a question has been asked too many times, there are many polite ways of saying so. One of which is "There are other threads in which we have discussed this in detail, so you will find more information by searching for those." As a last resort, you could simply move on to the next thread, or not open the thread in the first place. That would avoid the problem altogether, and then the people who do feel helpful can put in their two cents. I hardly think that this forum is so overrun by repeat threads that it is unnavigable.

Every now and then there is "international" composition competitions (as writing your own piano concerto ect). They are quite huge. Yes, entering a composition competition that actually pays would be supa! For something smaller, try the Eisteddofd (they have composition competitions). I won 94% for one of my compositions in 2004, resulting that I got the prize for best High School Music and best High School Piano in the Newcaslte Eisteddfod (South Africa). Try the Eisteddfod! It is great!!!
