Baroque Piece for Solo Harpsichord

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I like to share small piece of music with you. This was the final project that I had to write for my Tonal Analysis class. All comments are welcomed and enjoy.

Note: The Score will be uploaded shortly.

This is a cheerful, pleasant piece. You seem to have created a miniature of a baroque structure and I liked the sequence near the beginning.

I did think you might have come up with a slightly more creative treatment of the I-IV-V-I progression at the very beginning; you might try getting away from putting the chords all in root position, particularly in a stock progression like that. It's hard to tell without a score, but it seems that there are a lot of parallel chords in the right hand that might actually be a bit awkward to play, though they sound nice, almost as if two players were performing at once.

Hope you get a good grade on it!

Thanks for listening Mr.Graham, the assignment had requirements and I had no choice but to put down the I IV V I progression in the beginning and at the end. By the way, here's the score.

I think you already know parts of this are outside the range of the hand... :D but it's nice happy piece. It does sound like two keyboards in a way.
