I worked really hard on this, tell me what you think.

You think after a day at least one person would have said something. What I don't understand is how someone could download the file and not even review it. I thought the whole point of downloading music from this form was to critique it. Would it be a bad thing for the download ratio to be like 4 downloads to 4 posts. I'm having a bad day right now, and coming to an empty topic didn't help. I hope I will see something when I come back later.

two things.

one. don't scallop about it if nobody comments. sometimes you just don't get comments. that's life.

two. not everyone has finale. (like me) it might help if you post a midi. or mp3.

I wouldn't be able to give you a critique if I wanted to. I don't have finale so...I guess I'm just out of luck.

Try making like an MP3/MIDI or something. My topic didn't get any comments either but it's not like I'm just sitting back waiting for them. I'm composing other stuff to sway the time or comming up with my own critique (I'm pretty good at doing that) - so post something I can hear and I'll put in my 2 cents.

One, it's not scalloping, it's venting!

Two, whenever I try to upload large files like mp3s (or in finale's case, WAVs) on the internet my computer crashes.

The midi sales the song short, and I can;t upload large files like Mp3s or WAVs.

Will be back with a review before the end of the week.

I'd listen , but I dont have finale. And no MIDI could make a MIDI worse. MIDI has something finale lacks, called dynamics.

the beginning sounds like traveling music in a game where you carry a sword and go kill the corrupt kings knights. I'd give you more of a review, but I don't really like your attitude. Everyone here doesn't complain about no reviews. We may say "hey doesnt it suck that sometimes pieces don't get reviewed" other person: "ya, it sux".... thats it. Most of the time your piece will be reviewed eventually. It might take 2 mins, 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months. But all I'm saying is: suck it up, stop whining, I don't like you very much, and get a new attitude.

Sorry, but I don't have finale... I can't open this.

well. congratu-frickin-lations. Now i won't listen to the piece.

Why?

I don't care if someoneon the internet likes me or not. I'm not mad that no one reviewed my piece. I would rather storm my rage here than in public. Who are you to say I have a bad attitude. You don't know me.

Anyway, I feel better today and I'm sorry If anyone was offended.

I spilt my soda today, wasted good soda. I think I'll take it out on you Violin555 because I'd rather take it out here than public. Oh wait, I just forgot that you don't hold any grudge against me (yet) nor feeling terrible today, oh well, I'll just take it out here.

I think the piece sucks (there, rage released).

p.s... I didn't actually didn't listen to it because I don't have Finale.

That's called bad attitude. :)

Your excuse is sad, your piece is bad, take it out right here, im bound to shed a tear. Though your piece is lame, I'll try to tame my rhyming game for a younger dame.

I hate you with my earnose. Shoe sizes arent important. I like potatoes. I like classical music. I don't like you.

Who the hell do you think you are telling me to, "get better, and we might comment."

I already have 2 pieces that I wrote that the high school chamber orchestra are performing as well as a symphony I wrote that the local symphony director was begging my pwrmission to perfor it. I already know that I'm at a superior status in my composition skills, and I can't wait to get even better. I don't need some forum junkies to tell me how good I am.

FAIR WELL YOUNG COMPOSERS FORUM! :)

Can you please post a midi? 1/2 of the people here can't even open this file. I'm quite sure that we are all used to MIDI sounds, etc. and all have enough experience with it to understand its limitations and effects on pieces.

FAIR WELL YOUNG COMPOSERS FORUM!

Yes, young composers forum is FAIR.

Ya dude, your school playing your music isnt a big deal, most school orchestras suck anyway. And I think many people here have had conductors wanting to play their music. I know a conductor who wants to play 2 of my concerti and my symphony (when its done), stop trying to show urself in a better light.

I'm showing myself in the light I have been standing in all this time. I know I'm not John Williams, but I know that I'm a good (not the best) composer that has potential to be even better. Give me time, I just turned 15, I have all the time in the world to get better. When did this become a, "let's see who's better," I just want to have fun, not one up anyone. I also know that my piece is not bad, I worked hard on it. You can't take all the work I put into that song away. I won't sale myself short just because you had a negative opinion about one song I wrote. I have written better (I had fun with that constant GM-FM-EbM chord progression though XD). I should have been more proactive and just waited, but instead I reacted and that was stupid. However though, I'm not going to lie. A few of you (I won't give names) were being very unprofessional with the way you tried to resolve the situation.

I'm just going to put this behind me. Are we all willing to forgive and forget?

Wow...looks like I missed one hell of a show here.

Ok so analyzing the situation here,

I should have been more proactive and just waited, but instead I reacted and that was stupid.

We have a recognition of a mistake and the closest thing to an apology we can expect.

A few of you (I won't give names) were being very unprofessional with the way you tried to resolve the situation

I definately agree here (surprisingly enough). You were all being assholes. Funny assholes, I'll admit, but assholes nonetheless. Yes it was aggravating to have Dustin here start scalloping like a 6-year old 'cause all the big bad forum people ignored his piece a few days after posting, BUT that is far from an excuse to become so openly hostile and discriminatory.

Every single one us likes getting reviews and for someone who may be new to the whole forum thing, they could very well expect to get a response much faster considering so many guests and members may casually pass over a piece while checking up on the site. What must be understood is that there is a certain hierarchy to the viewing, if you're new on the site and nobody knows you or your music, expect it to take a little longer for a review to show up. We WILL look and we WILL review it, but we will most likely look at the pieces of other members whom we know first, that's all.

Give me time, I just turned 15, I have all the time in the world to get better. When did this become a, "let's see who's better," I just want to have fun, not one up anyone

Good point, why did everyone start taking things so personally? It's amazing, I read over the topic and everyone's trying to make all of this composer's achievements look like nothing, trying to make yourselves look better in some cases. How dare you? That's not only arrogant but also appallingly rude. All this kid wanted is for us to look at his music and all of a sudden YC shows its hairy donkey end as all of you find this a perfect opportunity to go all macho-bravado on him just because he rubbed SOME of you the wrong way ONCE.

I'm just going to put this behind me. Are we all willing to forgive and forget?

Frankly it's pretty nice of him to offer such a settlement after the scraggy he got from some of us. Dustin; stay a while and put this behind you as you said. Keep posting, be patient and I will take the initiative to review your works as soon as I get time to so that you at least have one opinion.

Everyone else, get as mad at me as you want for this post (it's the greatest fad :D) but you deserve it.

I'm sorry too, Dustin.

We are cool now. I'll give you a real review tommorow. I'm about to go to bed now.

  • Author

I'm glad this is settled. It's kind of funny. XD

Anyway, I apologize again and will be more paitent in the future. I have to get a little bit of homework finished up here. I'll see you guys later.

I agree with ]\/[4.

Besides, i was under the impression of this being a forum where we should encourage eachother to get better, to keep going and to make music.

I was under the impression of this being a forum where we encourage creativity.

I was under the impression of this being a forum where we all share a common thing. For example the love of making music.

This thread twisted my view. As if there was a difference between the art-communities around the net and the music-communities. In the art community everyone gives and takes. Everyone helps eachother to improve their skills and gives eachother guidance to further develop skills. This art-community has 210,822 members (Its huge). And they all pretty much share one common thing. The love for making art, being creative. Its like the art-communities has been around longer and therefore are more mature. Now thats the impression i get.

Being creative is the best feeling in the world. We shouldn't bash or discourage eachother, especially not over small things.

This is the impression that i got from this thread basically.

But then ]\/[4 came along and put my mind at peace, for that gave me hope that this might be a mature place after all. Good job :D

Keep up the creativity!

(By the way, i don't have finale so i can't check out that tune)

Oh, and can we be a bit more patient about responses? One day is a very short time - no one can expect a review that quickly. I've had stuff go more than a month without a review before. I'd say you have grounds for complaining if no one reviews within four or five days, but certainly not one day.

(BTW, I'm not reviewing anything this week, because I have a major exam Friday, and because the computer that has all my music software on it is in the shop for the next two weeks.)

most school orchestras suck anyway

So true...

You have to be a GOOD COMPOSER to be arrogant.

So true...

Well I'm glad this has been resolved.

At first, it can be a bit off putting not getting reviews for a while.. i think there are some of mine still without proper review i cant actually remember,

but you get used to it, and you realise its alot of effort for someone to listen through your whole piece, and analyse it and provide a critique.

I myself am very grateful for all those which I have recieved. (just a thanks while im mentioning it)

And again you have to realise that if you say something that is likely to irritate people, you may well get reactions, and even overreactions, so dont be too rash.

Anyway. Enjoy your time on the forum. I'm sure you will grow alot as a composer, as there are many great composers on here.

Like you said, just put this behind you. (and post a midi! :P)

  • Author

I owuld post a midi, but for some reason finale doesn't include patch changes when I save it as a midi. I'll still post it as soon as I get home. Anyway, hope you all had a great valentines day yesterday.

  • Author

Alright, here is the midi. Finale for some reason did not alow patch changes when converting it to a midi. The dyanamics are replaced with modulation. Other than that, it's okay.
