Black Ice Tales - Battle Theme

Featured Replies

My next piece is a battle theme for polish mmorpg game called Black Ice Tales. It`s a work in progress but nearly finished. Instruments are french horns, cellos, anvil, men choir, violins and so on.

I`m looking forward to your opinions :D

It's taking me forever just to get to the MP3 file. While I'm waiting the 20 seconds it apparently takes for me to START downloading the file (after I put in the little numbers) here's a better alternative: YourFileLink.com

It's a lot easier and a lot quicker for you (and us) if you happen to not have any web space at the moment.

EDIT: And my download session was denied. Wow, that was DEFINATELY worth my time...[/sarcasm]

[4.5 / 5]

(i didn't give a 5 only because i believe nobody can be THAT perfect so don't take it personally.)

i'm not much of a gamer, but this track will definitely boost the battle mood of whatever the game is.

why didn't you just upload it onto your soundclick?

Thanks, I`m glad to hear that:) I didn`t make 128kbps version, and that`s what soundclick accept, but I`ll upload it tommorow. I thought that rapidshare is the quickest way..

David thanks for the link:)

Here it is..

Hi Arek,

I don't know much about game music etc... but this one rocks! I like the moods and instrumentation ... percussion is cool and those unisono strings are very nice along with the brass. Samples sound also very nice. Do you create percussion part yourself from the scratch, or do you use ready-made loops?

Good work!

Misiu

P.S. Good to see a countryfellow on the forum :)

Hi Misiu :)

That`s really nice :) Indeed, some parts of drums are looped (only snare drums), and some were made by

myself.. I`m thinking about making this piece a little longer, and it will probably contain a part, where only choir will sing, but I`ll see. Heh, not many countryfellows here, nice to see you too

I like it.

The overall feeling is great.

On some parts of the brass and the staccato strings i would try and get more depth either by tweaking the reberb or the decay.

What samplings do you use? To me it sounded like EWQLSO Silver but i may be wrong.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I`ll think about adding a reverb for staccato, you`re probably right..As for samples..a bunch of this and that, but EWQL SO Gold and Colossus mainly.

You lucky b.. i want Colossus too. And Rare Instruments.

However, in just a few days i will have my Symphonic Choirs working. ;)

I have both RA and Colossus ;)

Just never used em :'(

Where can I buy that choir patch?

Anyway, the piece was well written. It didn't make me think of a battle though. I was imagining a dark forest that had a dungeon hidden deep inside it. I guess it could be a battle theme. Try putting some fast passages in there to make it seem like the character is fighting for his or her life.

:) Colossus is really great, although some paths are cut a little bit, like Taiko Drums (there could be more hits, but I guess that stormdrum is for that). Symphonic Choirs and word builder - amazing thing for a home composer, I`m thinking aboout getting it too someday.

Choir path in taken from Colossus by EWQL

Thanks for the suggestions, I`ll do near the end of the piece, you`re probably right, but I like that kind of action sequences melodies, slow and strong ;)
