Taking It On Faith

Featured Replies

The super-happy song in the set (that was preceded by What Came Before, Self-Sufficience, and Hoping, and that is immediately followed by After All). Lyrics by yours truly.

The music is much more "normal" in its tonality, because I mean, come on - it's a love song. And not one with seething disturbing undertones either.

Enjoy.

While this is a much more conventional piece than normally you may compose, you managed to be a little weird in there, and with great effect. I thought this was a great piece, and so far out of your theatre-phase, this is probably my favorite. Nice work.

I like this song. It has that Broadway-pop catchiness with some interesting seemingly unprepared modulations. Kudos!

I don't see how this could be called "so far out of your theatre-phase" (particularly the concept that writing theatre music is a "phase"), but let that rest.

It's a beautiful song. I think it deserves a few more moments of silence from the singer, particularly after "some people believe in God" and before "I have my belief in love..." And what if the two eighth notes in m3 were quarter notes instead? Try cutting the rest and making it q q q ee. The biggest thing that stood out to me (before I take a closer look) was that the ending felt abrupt. I think you might be able to fix this simply with a ritard in the piano after the voice cuts out.

But on the whole, a really, really beautiful song. I look forward to hearing the whole cycle together.
