pace via organo (for brass quintet)

Hello, everyone!

This piece for brass quintet that I have entitled "pace via organo". It's a piece that is very close to me, and I think it turned out pretty good.

The MIDI realization it very good. The only issue is the very last note. It should be a little longer, but the MIDI cuts it short.

The score I've included is non-transposed. Should any of you prefer a transposed score, please let me know and I will post one.

2/1? I understand it's divission, however, the first 76 measures are grouped in sets of mostly three, the whole opening section could be written much more legibly as a 3/4 meter. Also, my impression in looking at this piece is that you don't play a brass instrument. I say this because the section at 78 is poorly arranged the instruments aught to function independently and work together to achieve a particular sound or style. broken chords sound marvelous on pianos and organs, however something is lost in the translation to a brass ensemble.

I know what you mean about the meter, and I did give that some thought. I didn't take the time, though, to change it to something more effective. I slipped it in a broad x/1 meter because that's the feeling I want as opposed to an x/4 time.

I had a pipe organ in mind when composing this piece, and I did give thought to what you're saying. I think it can work with a quintet, though. It would just take work with the ensemble.

lol, well, i liked the idea of this piece. :)

In my opinion, it was a bit redundant, though i do think i it would work well as an accompaniment to something.

I also think that brass quintet, might not be the best choice of intrumentation for this...

Also, do you have something against 2nd Trumpet? lol, does he get to breathe?

it could work with the quintet; it would jsut need to be arranged to compliment those instruments better.

Yeah, I understand what you mean by arranging it for the instruments.

2nd trumpet does get a beater part, but it can be done. I know this because I have played non-stop parts. It just takes analysis of what else is going on and where the right spot is to breathe.

Brass quintet is my favorite kind of ensemble because I think a good group can very effectively imitate an organ. I would not do something like this with a woodwind or string ensemble.
