August 15, 200818 yr HI everyone, I'm new to the site, and I'm a little nervous to post my piece. I'm an amateur composer and pianist. Please, do comment on my piece if you want to, that is gonna help me a LOT to improve. This is a small piece I did in the Baroque style inspired by Scarlatti's virtuoso technique. I usually don't compose in the Baroque style but... this was just for fun... Thanks, :)
August 15, 200818 yr I've enjoyed a lot this piece! I have never composed in the Baroque style... Frankly I'm scared to do it... It is very brave from you to approach this style, if you'd ask me! I think you've done a great job, worthy of appraisal! I'm no expert, all I know is that I liked it a lot! Sebastian
August 16, 200818 yr Author Thank you so much really. BUt I'm sure there are like a a ton of mistakes though
August 17, 200818 yr It's a nice piece and good work, though I don't like it as much as your flute piano duet;) I like the theme you used and for the first time of composing a baroque style piece the composition is really great! But I think you're right and there are a few mistakes;) e.g. in measure 6/7 all two voices are descending in quints which is forbidden as I believe (and I think the this part comes up 2 or 3 times in your piece) But I'm not an expert as well so don't trust too much my words;)
August 19, 200818 yr Author oh thanks... parellel 5ths!!?? Wholy cow... I could've sworn there were no parallel 5ths. God damn Baroque rules!! lol
November 9, 200817 yr It's really really good! I especially liked the second half. This piece is evocative and brilliant. This style may actually suite you. Personally, I've tried composing in the Baroque style and it's IMPOSSIBLE. Maybe I'll try again sometime. (By the way, I think olibrehm is right- no fifths in Baroque counterpoint)
