Chatroom, maybe?

Featured Replies

We used to have a chatroom in the old site, and though it was empty most of the time, there were some fun conversations to be had. If it's not too much trouble, do you think you could create a dedicated chatroom for the new Young Composers (or maybe in IRC, with a Java applet linked to it)?

I definitely second this. By creating a chat room, we'll avoid pointless threads with just two people chatting with each other. (I've seen it, it's truly a terrible thing to watch ;) )

Yes, I am going to do this. There is an integrated chat with the invision board, however it's a monthly charge! They do have a free one, I will look into that. But it probably isn't that sophisticated. The good news is, I think everything is run on their server, so it means I don't have to install anything, and it wouldn't use my bandwidth. But this makes me think the free chat probably isn't very good.

What's wrong with two people chatting with each other in a thread? :P It's a time-honoured tradition.

Besides, I can tell you from experience, having a chatroom (the Old Forum had one) won't change anything. It's hard to arrange a meeting in one, and unlikely you'll just run into someone there.

While I agree with J Lee, it is fun sometimes when you do get a number of people on at the same time, I mean it is possible, and it makes serious discussions so much easier than sitting there, posting, waiting 5 minutes, etc.
