If I recall Agon is a depiction of a competition - anyone have more info?

Interesting(but not helpful) comment re "manly". I am unsure what makes it "manly' -- it reminds me of the Busoni edition I have of the Bach inventions where Busoni admonishes the players to do certain things to maintain a "virile" perfromance of Bach.
