Opacity Noise for Piano

Featured Replies

Hello, first post here. Just looking for a bit of feedback on a few of my pieces I've been working on over summer.

The first piece I'm uploading is a movement from a larger set. I suppose it's the slow movement. It hasn't got a proper title, "Opacity Noise" is just temporary.

I'm working on creating the score.

I've uploaded it to zShare and Tindeck. I'd recommend tindeck, but sometimes it goes down.

Opacity Noise (zShare)

Woot for zshare. \m/

Quite an interesting piece. It starts off a little unmemorable, but once that low key hits right before the 2-minute mark, the piece starts developing momentum in a very low-key kind of way. The abundance of note-repetition works to establish a stable "sea" of tonality, though I can't help but think that you're passing the opportunities for small and subtle nuances of harmonic experimentation. Unlike a low of pieces, this stays interesting all the way to the end (you're repetition is intrasequential rather than intersequential) so that definitely helps it. Though, I feel like it ended before it said what it really needed to say - perhaps a melodic or harmonic climax. Nonetheless, the current coda still caps it off with quite a nice sense of closure.
