Finale snare drum

Featured Replies

I am having trouble with getting a good snare drum sound in Finale 2007, which is really annoying. I am used to Sibelius, and the GPO and synth options in Finale are a little confusing. Please Help!:sadtears:

Is the sound choppy and uneven? I've had choppiness and uneveness using Finale 2007 with GPO Finale Edition and it frustrates me so much. I think my computer is garbage though.

If I minimize the document during playback it plays much better.

Are you just getting the sound of a field drum? i.e. an unactivated snare?

You have to move the note down (or up, I can't remember) to get the activated snare sound with GPO. Or you could check through the manual to see exactly which note corresponds to the activated snare

Oh! Maybe that's what you are talking about! The sound you're getting is the "side" drum.

1. Click your Staff tool.

2. Double click the staff that you are struggling with.

3. Where is says "notation style" click the select button.

4. Basic Orch Percussion should be highlighted.

5. Hit "edit".

6. Then adjust your percussion mapping. You can totally turn the "side drum" off if do not need it or you can just move it somewhere else.

Hope this helps!

That helped me! Thanks!
