Piano Concert Piece

Well, I need a Piano Concert Piece. Something Young, new and fresh

Next year in July I want to audition for a concerto solo with the *** Philharmonic. I need... a SMASHING piano concert piece! Not a movement from a concerto, but a solo concert piece. Young, new and fresh! And difficult!

The Piano part musn't be TOO difficult (as I don't have ages to practise it) but not to easy either! The orchestration should not be for the LSO quality (don't run away and this every player is a virtuoso!) but it should be fun.

The main theme MUST be memorable - the piece's total lenght must be around 7-12 minutes. Not too short but not too long either! Fun and original rhythms, chords and colour would delight me! Also, this piece must be attract the common ear - or modern ear - or it must be a smash with the common man. The piece must be finished by the end of January so that I can have time to practise my solo part.

Asked too much? It is possible! A fun and liveley piece! Alas, I can't audition for my own composition but you can write me a piece! Good Luck!

Unclear... do you want a concert piece for solo piano alone, that is... to be played in CONJUNCTION with a concerto piece? Meaning... no orchestra. Just a piano piece. OR, did you mean you want just a standalone piano PLUS orchestra piece? In other words, that's basically a concerto. But you said not a movement from a concerto. So explicate, please.

Yes, that does help. :)

Now, do you know what the orchestra is like? Is it a professional orchestra? Is it a youth philharmonia? Are there any instruments missing from their ensemble do you know, like bass trombone, tuba, cor angais, contrabassoon, saxophone, marimba, timpani? A professional orchestra should have these all available. Is the orchestra large? Small? 8 first violins? 16 first violins? 1 bass? 8 basses? 2 flutes? 4 flutes? 2 horns? 4 horns? 5? 8? Is a euphonium player on the roster? Harpist? 2? It would REALLY benefit to know all this as best as humanly possible.
