One & Variations

For my GCSE i have to compose pieces, which is quite fun, although i'm not very good at it. :blush:

This is my first composition, so be really mean with your comments, i wrote it at my piano, but this is the computer sequenced version. Done on FL studio:

I don't have a name for it yet, so i've simply been calling it one.

I've been arranging the piece for a small ensemble of:

Picollo

2 Flutes

French Horn

Violin

Cello

Drum kit

Timpani

Piano

I have no intention on changing the instruments because when i'm finished the arrangment we are going to record the composition live. :-)

It's still a work in progress so parts of it sound empty, and i haven't composed the ending yet (it's really annoying having to jump from my piano to my computer constantly!)

So be mean, and tell me what you hate, and what you hate even more. :D

Not bad for a first step. Maybe you would like to add more variety to it. You have a bit too much of the melody repeating. I think it is a good attempt.

I liked the main melody going on here.

It seemed like there was already alot of variation in the melody but I could be wrong, I usually am .

Cup noodle: Thanks! Unfortunately i really can't make more of a melody to my piece, i tried but it always turns out weird. :(

Saxophone: The melody is originally like that, the melody the flute plays after the introduction is the main melody.
