December 2, 200817 yr Hi everyone, my name is andreas, i'm a self-made composer of classical music, which is performed by my virtual orchestra. i would be very nice to get some comments from other composers and musicians. so to start with, here is my symphonicon no.2, a concert for orchestra: symphonicon no.2 i'm sorry that i can't offer proper scores, but they are still coordinated to the orchestra and i havent had the time to revise them. thanks in advance for your time
December 2, 200817 yr There are some great ideas here. And some very colourful orchestration. My only complaint is that there's a sense of "same-ness" throughout the pieces. You rarely venture very far from your opening key, and the motifs tend to simply overlap and repeat. I guess as a form of minimalism this could be interesting, but it really wasn't enough to keep my interest (and I generally love minimalism). I'd love to hear you use the same sorts of textures, rhythmic elements and lovely orchestration, but give it more foward impetus, more sense that the harmony is developing and moving from point A to point B, and to various other places before eventually coming to a cadential end. I listened to a bit of your other music as well, and would have the same criticism for those pieces. Like I said, there are some great basic ideas, cells from which to start, but there is lots of room for development, and it's not being explored.
December 17, 200817 yr Author Thanks very much for your criticism, actually i never thought of my music as a kind of minimalism but well.... i know what you mean with the 'non-development', i did all this 'development' with my former compositions, and i had that felling, that its not necessarry with my new music. thanks again for your time. an-ra-be
December 18, 200817 yr I really enjoyed all of the music, especially when you mixed different textures like staccato and legato. Personally, I didn't have a problem with the "sameness" except maybe when it stayed in the same key for too long . For me it just brought a sense of unity to the piece. But ya, a lot of really cool colors.
December 19, 200817 yr Do you have a score to these pieces? I'd love to see them. The orchestration is very nice, although I must agree with the others in that it is a bit repetitive at times. Great job overall though!
