December 5, 200817 yr Hi! This is the beginning of a sonata (1st mvm.). I had a piece that I was going to use as a single movement Capriccio, but my teacher suggested that I make it into the 3rd movement of a sonata, so now I am working on the first movement too. It is in Sonata-Allegro form. This is the projected plan for the whole sonata: I: Allegretto molto e con fuoco II: Andante con Variazioni III:Rondo: Allegretto capriccioso Remember this is only the beginning of the first movement. Also: keep in mind that I am only twelve years old and have only been composing seriously for three months. Please comment! The first theme came to me when I was in the car driving back from New York. Sonate No. 1.mus Sonate No. 1.mid
December 5, 200817 yr Nice start. You have one phrase based on the repetition of the thirds descending and then the start of a phrase. I suggest less emphasis on sequential repetition - as you do somewhat in the fragment of your second phrase - as you proceed.
December 5, 200817 yr Author ^ Thank you. There are a few perfect fourths and one tritone in the first theme but yes, that's good advice. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for the development section though.
