Action / Adventure sample

Featured Replies

Hey it's been awhile since I'v done anything. this is an Action Adventure cue just to show what I can do. It's more like an overture of possible themes in that genre, since the piece in it's current condition probally wouldn't work for a movie but it's themes could be used as such. But anyway here it is.

wow, sounds good.

the only thing that i would say is that the strings seem to get overpowered by the percussion and the lines don't pop as much in those sections. Also, some of the sections feel a bit weak (not in terms of melody). In one particular part you had a violin playing a quick paced staccato line alone and i couldn't help but think if there were a bit more orchestration in those parts it would sound much more epic and full.

great job.

Hey derekrazo thanks for the comment. About lack of orchestration, I think I know what part you are referring to. I kind of rushed this as soon as I completed it. I think what I need to do is some fine tuning especially with the dynamics.

Hey, Reth!

Good to see you around again, here are my thoughts on this little cue:

-Percussion is way too loud, and you need to use different cymbal hits because right now it's noticeably the same one over and over, in the beginning especially but also later on in the track. You've got a nice sound library, so make good use of its diversity.

-Some serious machine-gun effect going on with your main theme's string line there throughout.

-Nice little swells and your sense of drama is great, but you really need to thicken up the orchestration significantly when you're giving your main theme airtime — it just sounds completely hollow and it's unfortunate.

-Nice little woodwind interlude in the middle, but the flute sounds awfully muted...try a different patch or tweak the EQ on that track or something.

-Nice strong ending, but a modulation or some sort of rhythmic change could give it an extra bit of lift and strengthen the sense of "BANG, it's over".

That's about all; I'd love to hear an edited version of this as right now it sounds like a work-in-progress that could use some serious polish and a bit of thickening.

Good work, thanks for sharing! :)
