"Vitae Aeternum" for solo vibraphone

A minimalist piece.

"Vitae Aeternum" is latin, means "Eternal Life" (and is also the title of a brass band piece.)

I have tried to capture my thoughts about living an eternal life on Earth. This was the best way I could do it.

The piece starts interesting and with the fine sound of the vibraphone. After a while, the listener has understood the piece. After a few minutes, he/she is tired of hearing the piece. After a few minutes more, insanely bored. The best way to perform the piece is to repeat until every single listener has left the room in protest.

Umm...OK. Something else like this came up recently, and I didn't understand that any better than I understand this. I do support your right to call this music if you like, but I reserve the right not to accept it as such.

By the way, I checked on that band piece you said was named Vitae Aeternum as well. I had trouble believing it was true, but sure enough you were right...there is such a piece.

That composer doesn't know anything more about Latin grammar than you do, apparently.

Vita aeterna = eternal life.

Vitae Aeternum = horrendously bad Latin grammar. The declensions vitae and aeternum do exist, but not in this context, and they would change the meaning of the words. That's about all I can tell you without waxing more pedagogic about Latin than I care to do at this point.

Best to check these things out first.

Perhaps this piece is influenced by SSC's composition?

Yes, it was a parody on the brass band piece with the same title. ;-)
