Two Tracks from my Upcoming Album

Featured Replies

I am still in the early tracking and mixing stages, but I thought I would see what you guys think of "Smashing Life" and "Tonight" on my new Black album. Tonight is more of a smooth electronica piece where as Smashing Life is a soundtrack-oriented work. Take your pick and tell me what you think. :)

Listen

Thanks

Hey there!

I just listened to "Tonight," the "Metropolis" sample, and "Smashing Life." Love them all! Wonderful, wonderful texture and ideas. This is just the kind of electronic music I'm in love with. (Oddly enough, some of your ideas reminded me of the darker bits of Simon Boswell's "Tin Man" score.)

Excellent work on creating potent atmospheres that people want to revisit! (The guitar work is great... is it your own?)

I'd be honored if you'd check out my latest film music at this link.

Thanks for listening Jared, and I appreciate the comments. I did have a chance to listen to some of your work as well, and I like it a lot. Sounds like you are getting into some subtle electronica yourself on a couple of pieces - at least in the percussive and atmospheric parts. There are a lot of very catchy and atmospheric string parts that, coupled with the light moonlit piano arrangements, come out very nicely.:D

I would say you have dark, dramatic mystery down very well. I would love to know what tools and libraries you are working with.

EDIT: By the way, John Williams is completely awesome...period. :D

P.S. - Yes, the guitar work was me, but I don't consider it good. hehehe - I just get by.

This sounds really good. I really like the compositions, very ethereal. I think it could use some work in the mixing to make it sound bigger. I'm not really an expert on this kind of thing, but I think some appropriately applied compression to the guitar and the bass could make them pop a little more and standout in the mix.

Thanks for the listen Leeran, and you're right - these tracks are still in the tracking phase. The only effects or processing on them are filters and a tad bit of reverb. I am still working on getting my older stuff together first. I just seem to write stuff faster than I finish it.

Although I am not a big fan of electronica, I did enjoy these.

There is still some work to be done, but I see you know that already.

Well done

Thanks rolifer, to be honest I absolutely hate mixing. It's like one of those brick walls I just keep running into. It's a slow learning process, but I am still hopeful. :)
