Jazz Soundtrack to Animated Short

Featured Replies

This is animated short that was made as an example project for a book on making 3d animated shorts. I was asked to make a soundtrack. He wanted it to be a jazz trio, but I added a bit of clarinet, a touch of strings, and some other mallet instruments to spice it up a little. Here is a link to the short itself: http://thebeast.harkyman.com/ The audio quality got a little degraded in the video compression, but if you click the "Music by" link on the right of the page, you can get better quality audio, though without the video.

By the way, I realize this is really "stereotypical" jazz, and I wouldn't compose like this normally, but I felt like it fit the short.

I thought it was very well done and shows a lot of talent on your part. I was especially fond of the drums solos and awesome jazzy fills throughout the film. You synced your cues up very well!:)

I thought that this was well done on many levels.

You should both be proud

Well done

I was doing a google search of myself ( come on, everybody does it), and I found this quote from the book: (Animating with Blender: How to ... - Google Book Search)

If you've already watched The Beast, you know that the composer, Leeran Z. Raphaely, did a fantastic job. The best complement you can give a composer on your project is that he or she did exactly what you wanted but had never imagined, and that is certainly what he did.

That is pretty damn cool, if I say so myself!
