Queen of Hearts

Featured Replies

This is another part of my suite concerning Lewis Carrol's Through the Looking Glass. Although The Queen of Hearts is in Alice in Wonderland and not in Through the Looking Glass, I took the liberty of adding her to the suite.

The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland is the one that always said "Off with their heads".

If you take the few extra minutes to tell me your opinion of the piece, as always I will find your music and return the favor. If your life is so hectic that you cannot spare the few minutes, I do pity you and hope you find a way to relax.

For those of you that refuse to critique this without seeing a score, I totally understand. I stopped going to the movies for the same reason. People used to ask me if the movie I saw was any good and I had to tell them that I didn't know because I didn't have the script with me while I watched the movie.

This piece was composed thru a sequencer (Sonar 8), so the score would be just about worthless and since I am a full time student, I do not have the time to do a proper score right now.

The samples are from GPO, JABB, EWQLSO Gold and EWQLSO RA.

wow .. i wish i can see your score

so powerfull

dark@@

This is great! Admittedly, I've never read any Lewis Carrol, but I've seen the movie "Alice in Wonderland" and been in the play "Follow that Rabbit." From what I've gleaned from these, the Queen of Hearts is a caricature. You've shown me a "different side" of her: I appreciate it.

The music is well executed, very dark and primitive. Makes you wonder if the King of Hearts is Vlad the Impaler.

Very well done.

Jon

Wow! I like it a lot, especially the beginning theme in the low strings. The percussion is used well, too. I agree with everyone else, the dark tone is very appropriate. Well done!

I wish that Sonar was capable of producing a decent score, but alas it is not.

Thanks

Ron

I wish you had posted your intentions for this piece, because it sounds to me like a very movie-theme-esque type of piece, so if that's what you were going for them good on you. I imagine that was at least part of your goal since it is based on a well-known story.

Although Disney has treated Alice like a kids story, it is redally written in an adult vein and IMO a very dark one. This is why I have gone dark with the suite.

Nabby

That theme is something I have been playing on my guitar for years and I wanted orchestrate it and the result was this one.

Dev

I thought I was clear in my intentions. This is part of a suite of pieces that depict my vision of Alice and the other characters in the stories.

Thanks guys

Ron
