Irish Japan

Featured Replies

Hey guys, this is a piece that I've had for awhile, I just want to get some different opinions on it. There are a few f*** ups but, excluding that aside I would love to hear some critics as I am always looking to grow and expand as a musician.

This was written as I was exploring different cultural instruments. In this particular piece it has an array of ethnic instruments including bagpipes and a Koto, hence the name.

Anyways would love to hear what you have to think.

It wasn't written for a film but I suppose it fits in better here than the other sections as it could be in one I suppose.

Wow.

Honestly, I think a lot of people are bypassing this thread just because at first glance, it really seems like something that could be really odd, or even a downright awful mix of sounds. However, upon listening to the piece in full, I'm very surprised, in a good way!

This is a really cool piece, what you have done with the instrumentation is really great. I couldn't tell whether the melody was more Japanese or Irish, so that blended feel really works here.

The only thing is, as it is synthed together, I'm not sure this would translate to a live performance; seeing as there is a huge volume difference between kotos and pipes.

Experimenting with different sounds is the best way to be original and unique. Keep it up, I would love to hear what you come up with next.

Thanks for the reply momo, yeah I realize the title of the song is a bit odd, but I really couldn't think of anything else to call it. Anyways glad you enjoyed it, and I would love to hear others peoples opinions on perhaps any improvements I could make.
