April 4, 200916 yr Firewall is a piece for solo piano I wrote last year. A video performance is available on youtube or www.c7music.net/firewall_movie.html firewall.pdf
April 5, 200916 yr I'm sorry I can't offer any constructive feedback... I am only a novice. But I just wanted to say that piece inspired me so much. Thank you. It was intriguing and disturbing and luxurious and it made me feel. Great job.
April 5, 200916 yr Author Thanks! "Intriguing and disturbing and luxurious...", I'm going to quote you on that.
April 5, 200916 yr were you speaking (to fpiano) or imitating the speech (did firewall prevented it?)? what do you speak (spoke) about? do you think one can speak to piano not knowing the language? is a piano a unique individual thing for you or a set of relations that could as well be transcribes for any other instrument? is it piano music or piano music?
April 5, 200916 yr Author I'm not quite sure I understand the question, but Firewall was written with the piano specifically in mind. The point of the piece was trying to arrive at a conclusion from multiple modes of attack. Every avenue gets blocked in some way, forcing either a restart or a modification. As for "speaking" to the piano- I don't know. I'm sure we all can agree that there are times when we feel blocked from communicating some idea or making some point, either musically or with words. It all stems from that frustration.
April 5, 200916 yr Again, I'm very impressed with your work! It's creatively disturbing; just the kind of music I'm looking for. Kudos to you, Mr. Giracello. I have to ask, though...what's the inspiration for the title? EDIT: Never mind; saw above post. That's awesome.
April 5, 200916 yr then - is it possible that not communicating, not forcing any ideas is pretty much all that is moving? that non-communication, non-textualising is not an obstacle, but rather a source of being there with someone(thing) else? doesn't one, tryig to force (communicate ideas, whatever that means) anything human on non-human things misses the point entirely and in principle? me, i'm happy not being able (desiring) to communicate ( i see it as a natural limit for(enabling) individualisation and as such - freedom, responsibility, joy, laughter, good conscience). was your piece a result of a wit (technological knowledge, artificial experience) or was it a thread born in primordial silence and possibly inhuman nature of being there with someone(thing) else? can fpiano, being artificial techno-thing of human animal, possibly speak of unspeakable (unknowable)? or is it's domain entirely that of a game and reflection and thus human all too human?
April 15, 200916 yr This piece is good. However I think there are some things which are unplayable, or you should make some notes how to play it. For example what about the first row on the 2nd page? I like your music, but I don't understand everything in this piece. gollam12
April 16, 200916 yr Author yeah, there are performance notes in the score, I just didn't inclued them in the pdf. You're supposed to use the boxes as ossia for elaboration and improv ideas... I actually have a re-write where things are written out much clearer, so I agree with you totally.

BUT.. it sounds nice :)
April 19, 200916 yr Wow. Very very contemporary. What program did you use to write this piece out? You should post the re-write of the score with performance notes included. I'm not sure of what to think of this piece. I personally don't care for contemporary music so my opinion is probably biased. However, the music does seem to has a purpose and flow to it (unlike other contemporary piece which sound like a bunch of random notes). All I can say is that it was very intriguing, and when my musical tastes and interests mature, I hope to have a better appreciation of this piece.
April 19, 200916 yr Author Yeah, I'll post it as soon as I can. You can tell by the video that I'm not really playing half of it- of course, it's written for better piano players than I am!
