April 7, 200916 yr This originated as an improvisation on my Roland JV-80 synthesizer. It came out quite good and is a definite change from my "normal" musical style. The piece is essentially done, though I intend to notate it and re-record a more refined version in the near future. Edit: Do realise that the audio is rather choppy because I recorded this in real time. I want to do a cleaner version without the clicking and noise currently there at some points. The dB level was a bit screwy. Then again, this technology is as old as I am... mp3: Shakeupeace Comments welcome and suggestions appreciated since this is my first go at this type of stuff. Enjoy!
April 17, 200916 yr I think you have not received comments before because is a little difficult to access your file, the host MediaFire is a little confused, to download the file you have to allow some pop-ups and ActiveX (that is bloked by Default) only then you see the Download link.... but... I did download your file and heard it. I think is quite good and interesting, I only found some segment at 8:04 with Crash cymbals only (after some flute) which I (my very personal opinion) think is out of place, and there's nothing to do with the rest of the piece. Perhaps you don't need to record again, you only need to fix the click/pops with some Audio Edition software like Adobe Audition and it's done. by the way, "Shakeuppeace" what does it mean ?

The glories of using a free file sharing website. I don't know why it did that ActiveX thing for you know. I've never had that happen to me. Perhaps it was Flash? The "crash cymbal" section is indeed out of place. They aren't crash cymbals, they're sharp breath noises. I don't particularly like that section. "Shakeupeace" (one P) is the name of the patch that I recorded this from on my JV-80. Being one of the first true multi-timberal synthesizers, there are four "tones" within each "patch" that can be changed in real time. So this piece uses the four tones in various combinations under the one patch. I might make up a more glamorous story for the title one day.
April 17, 200916 yr o really ? they sound like Crash Cymbals.... That synthesizer model sounds very good, their features, and timbres too. are you going to create an Score ?, (i know creating score from electronic works is a kind of boring process) but could create a score of the main theme only, not every single thing. You're right when you say that is a definite change from your "normal" musical style, I saw and heard the 4th mov of your Symphony (No.1 i think) the Kinder one.... and this electronic piece is another world, you're doing well in developing all your abilities, most people don't know how polyphasetic they can be.
April 17, 200916 yr I think only one set of sounds ... there is no melody goes beyond the understanding of my music
April 18, 200916 yr This is interesting. I think that it is too experimental to be some sort of 'easy listening' tune (I don't intend easy listening as degrading..) but it isn't experimental enough to be experimental. Whatever that means. It somehow (to my ears of course) falls in between two genres and I am not really sure what to think of it. I kinda like the pops and crackles and panning things going on, and wish that they were done more consistently and purposefully. Can you share what style you were going for here? Was it something more experimental or something more 'newage'??
May 8, 200916 yr The vibrato or "modulations" on the tones in the beginning is a bit too wide and slow for my taste, especially if they're going to be held out that long. Try to make it sound more natural as if they were actually being sung or played by an instrument, no one does vibrato like that. Basically it sounds too unnatural, just one thing you can focus on.
