August 19, 200520 yr There are problems that arise when posts are edited even moments after the post was first submitted. 1) It can cause confusion if someone reads the original post and not the edited one. 2) If someone's quoting the original it renders the quote to be false. POST MERGED Posting like this is a long established youngcomposers.com method and should not be stopped! It also adds an emphasis that would otherwise be unobtainable. I see someone moderated Stefan's original post to include the second one. This renders the addition line (the edit) almost effectless.
August 19, 200520 yr Let's see what chopn has to say about this issue. I'll PM him Your posts have been merged, but i have made it more clear this time. :)
August 19, 200520 yr The old crowd do not take this kindly. What is wrong with having two concurrent posts?
August 19, 200520 yr The answer is "nothing", as long as it doesn't become too repetitive or tiresome to read.
August 19, 200520 yr Indeed. I think Stefan's was the first in the life of this new forum... Thanks Mike.
August 20, 200520 yr I've noticed Letehn like things very neat and tidy. We old-timers love clutter, so you'll have to excuse us. The old board had the feeling of an opium den because of all the crazy-quilt clutter. :) Also, remember that for most people, the time to edit a post is limited to 2 hours. After that, it's etched in stone.

August 22, 200520 yr Thanks for refraining from merging the posts. It is an effect I intended. I have often used the edit post feature when appropriate. Indeed, the edit post feature was present on the old board. I find it a strange situation when I can't use the internet-rhetorical devices I'd like to. But yes. It's not happening. So I'm happy. Thanks.
August 22, 200520 yr Yes, Stefan, but I think we need our hands holding while we get used to the new board. Don't you think? I mean: we're completely new to this domain (www.youngcomposers.com), aren't we?
August 22, 200520 yr The adverts have come back. They are very much annoying me now that they are back. It's not just the content now: it's to do with the layout of the whole site, as there is the majority of a page to scroll down to get to the forum post list. What's the point of a forum? Can you keep the adverts to the foot of the page or the non-forum areas please? Or do something about the layout...
