Piano Piece in G Major - Title needed

Featured Replies

Hi,

it's been a long time since I last posted a piece of me.

The following is a little piece for piano with a calm introduction and a rhytmic middle part.

Unfortunately I can't think of a title (like always;)). It would be great if any of you had any suggestions (e.g. maybe the middle part's rythm is typical for a dance or something, I don't know...)

MP3 File

I apologize for the bad quality of the recording, next time we'll do better.

Please enjoy, I'm looking forward to your reactions,

Oli Brehm

I liked it. I has a nice mood here and there. It's a bit cliche, but that's oke. That middle part it's quit a change from the beginning. The right hand could be a bit work out for my taste in that middle section.

Hello. I like your piece. There is one thing that bothered me.. actually, it ALWAYS bothers me when I see it.

mm24. The notation makes an easily understandable rhythm look odd.

Please, write it as this:

Dotted eighth, Sixteenth tied to an eighth, eighth, sixteenth, eighth, sixteenth tied to a sixteenth, dotted eighth. much more coherent. The same thing for mm25.

mm30 (and similar measures)

dotted eighth, sixteenth tied to eighth, eighth/two sixteenths, dotted eighth, sixteenth tied to eighth, eighth.

title suggestion: Summer in Venice

Thanks for the answers!

I understand that of course, though I personally prefer this way of writing, I think it just looks better, not so many notes in a close space. But of course one could figure out the rythm better if I did it like you explained.

Interesting ;) Unfortunately I've never been to Venice so I can't really tell if it would fit...

I loved the first measures. :) I personally would do something else with the rhythm in the left hand in the 8th measure, it sounds a bit hasty and the contrast with the begin measures are to big, in my opinion.

Maybe you could fill up the fermate notes in the 19th measure with a nice chord.

Maybe you could explore the musical idea in measures 20-22 a little bit more, a measure or 2. :) Then the listener gets a bit more time to prepare for the fast part.

Good job!

You're right. That was actually a part I wasn't so satisfied with when I wrote the piece. Maybe I'll change it.

The thing with the fermate in m19 I did quite on purpose. I think if you hit the pedal already on the two eiths in m18 you'll get a pretty nice sound even if it's not a "nice chord".;)

Thanks again for your comment!
