Thunder Day

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Here's my newest creation. I wrote it on a thursday, which in dutch is Donderdag. The exact translation of donderdag is Thunder Day.. There for the name!

Its a more pop/rock like song.

Please give me a comment!!

Thunder Day

Greets, Chris

you need some phat wailing out of control sax improv going on over the top of this. Wouldn't mind having a go :-)

Nice

thanks ;) i will look into it... although my sax samples are just awefull... I really need to find some new ones... (I use Reason 4) Well, thanks for the comment!

It reminds me of the kinda music they use on the Tekken games :-)

It's good actually - 2nd listen - it definitely needs that hook with a sax or another melodic instrument over the top though.

If you want to send me a copy when I get time in a few weeks i'll have a blast over the top an show u what I mean - can just send me a small sample if you're worried about theft of ideas etc... In fact I've already got in my head what would sound great - some really beefy bari at the bottom register and really punchy sharp staccato alto melody/improv.

Woah. This is awesome (and does seem like it should be in a videogame :O).

hehe thanks ^^ well if someone wants it for a video game :P be my guest!

Nice tune. And yes, the way it is now, it's a good fit for a Tekken game or something :-)

But it definitely needs a lead melody, if it's going to be more than that.

Personally, I would prefer vocals over saxophone on this. I think sax might make it sound kind of corny. Though I've never really like sax in pop music anyway.

I would write yourself some lyrics and a vocal melody, and you've got yourself a very nice early Radiohead style pop/rock song

Noooo you evil man! you did not just say that about a sax! Na come on Chris when ur ready send it to me..bring it on i'll show ya :-D I don't see this as pop anyway it's of a chilled out Funk pedigree if you ask me and funk + sax = marriage made in heaven :-)

Well funk + sax obviously :-) When you're done, I'd like to hear it.

But I don't really hear funk in this song. I get more of a early Radiohead vibe. Or Beck or something. I guess it all depends what direction you want to take it. But I know I'd like it better with a singer (preferably male).

Btw, don't get me wrong, I like sax. I'm a sax player myself. But not in pop, uch... :-)

Haha you guys! Well i'll give it to you tomorrow!! As a matter of fact... it started out as a jazz song... but it ended up more a bit rock like... So i guess... mix jazz with rock and you get a sort of rougher type of funk... The chord progression is absolutly funk... And for the bossanova bridge... i think thats just a confermation of the funk... So we'll upload it when its done!

Greets

It's your piece, but I personally really wouldn't call it funk. It's funky, maybe, but not funk IMO. But like I said, you're free to take it in any direction you want.

well it's not James Brown if that's what you mean :-p
