Hi, just found this website and thought I would post some stuff which I have produced and which has collected dust. This is just a hobby and I welcome any comments.

Spy Game.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage - Gregson Williams style rip off ( and I don't mind saying it because he's great! )

As I said I would welcome any comments or criticism as long as its constructive and to the point.

Cheers

Wow, very nice. You've got a good sense of melody and orchestration, as well as some good production chops.

I wouldn't say the Spy Game track is too much of a HGW ripoff, you've got enough of your own style in there that it doesn't come across as blatant or even distracting. With a slight increase in realism in the Spy Game orchestral parts (layering sample libraries, little more reverb, possibly better samples, and a little bit of mixing), you'd have a pretty solid demo track.

Nice job!

Thanks bud. I find one of the toughtest things about bedroom composing is using VSTs intelligently to try to either a) make them sound like the real deal or b) at least make them sound interesting. I think with the spygame one I was fairly limited with the VST I was using and found it nigh impossible to make it sound convincing. Planning to invest in Vienna Symphonic Library Special Edition though which I think seems to be the closest to the deal thing as I've come across; can't wait.

Cheers!

I've ordered Vienna SE now. Anyone else got any experience of using it?

I liked this. My only criticism is that once that synth cymbal/hat comes in, it's there for the rest of the piece. Might potentially sound good to drop it if only for a few measures at some point.

Even though you pushed my new piece (and Marius') way down the page, I will still comment on this.

Although these are not the greatest samples, your ideas come thru very well. I have never used any Vienna samples, let alone SE, but I have listened to soem of their demos and am very impressed. Expensive toys.

Nice work

Well I do apologise; hope I didn't offend :-)

SE wasn't too expensive and I did save up all my pennies. I'm just waitin to install it and see if my machine has a heart attack

Hey! Nice work.

I could definately spot a bit of the MGS-esque sound in there, but its a pleasant track to listen to.

I think the second half isn't as strong as the first, but it definately works as some sort of background music, although i think as themic material it wouldn't work.

Anyway, good job! Hope to hear more from you soon.

What's interesting about this is that although it doesn't really develope... there wasn't one second that I was bored. I actually liked every second of it! :)

From what I've heard Vianna sounds Great! I personaly invested now on EWQLSO (East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra) which is a little complicated but sounds awsome.

Hey Thanks for the comment. This is just a bit of fluff really...but I do find it hard sometimes to develop ideas; I find it easy to get sidetracked by new ideas instead of working with a few ideas/motifs etc...

I've set Vienna up now and I have to say it sounds awesome! It's a bit complicated to get your head round at first but it enables some bloody convincing reproductions - especially the woodwinds. I'm just doing a track now which is just to enable me to learn the programme but will post when I'm done. I was going to buy EWQL but changed my mind mainly because I wanted the sounds 'dry' rather than 'wet'. But EWQL stuff is really great. I have Storm Drum and waiting for Ra on a buy one get one free offer to arrive which sounds incredible.

I bought stormdrums a year ago. now there's stormdrums 2 which I have not heard yet.

anyways, Ra changed my life and it will change your's too :)
