The Forest - VGM inspired piece

Featured Replies

Here is a piece I made trying to emulate the feel of a VGM soundtrack. The piece is supposed to evoke the atmosphere of an eerie forest (not stereotypical at all! :D ).

It is for a mixed ensemble - flute, clarinet, English horn, bassoon, French horn, acoustic guitar, harp, and acoustic bass. It isn't meant to be performed and features some crazy polyphonics in the woodwinds, simply for effect =)

Forest.MUS

Forest.MID

Is it possible for your to post in another format apart from mus. file? a MIDI file's fine :)

MIDI would work wonders for listening.

Ok, I've uploaded a midi of the piece and may add an mp3 later (my internet isn't very quick where I am) when I can get to a better connection.

YEAh, it has the feel of a forest and everything, it even reminds me of ghosts'n'goblins theme... just better orchestrated, with good libraries this will be awesome(its still awesome in my opinion even like this)

Thanks! I'm glad you like it =) Yea I do wish that I had some sound libraries, but I can't afford/don't know how to use those. Thanks for the comments

I dig the vibe from this piece.

Even though its .mid it still sounds very good, and it reminds me of some oldschool SNES games haha.

I agree if you get this orchestrated with a proper sound library it'd sound amazing. But good job on the composition anyway :).

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Oldschool SNES was my goal, so I'm stoked it reminded you of that.

Here is a .mp3 of the piece. It is simply the output from Finale 2005, but it doesn't sound too bad. Much better than the midi, at any rate.

Thank you for your comments!!
