hi there,

I'm actually new in here.. and i would like to ask your opinions about what i have been doing in terms of music composition.

to be honest i dont understand nothing about music theory so i can't show you guys the score cos i don't even know how to write one.. lolol but i would like to know your opinion about this anyway. :P

sorry about being a video but it was the best way i found to upload it on youtube (the soundtrack sometimes doesn't match with the scene because i composed it and just after i found a trailer to put on top and not the opposite...so sorry about that also...)

YouTube - Wall E with my OST Soundtrack

(this one is my first cinematic soundtrack and it sounds even more realistic than the first link (NOW IT IS WORKING))

The Silence Of The Soldier - http://composersforum.ning.com/profile/GonzaloMarquesFerreiraMartins?xg_source=activity

Now that's rather charming!

Just curious at what music program you used; sound realistic? I Love this piece... It's great. I like when it gets faster at the end. Wonderful use of the bells and percussion.

The track is nice but I have not felt the connection to Wall-E's trailer.

I actually thought it would fit a humoristic Villain's character rather then a whole clip.

yeah i know i agree with you that's why i said in my description that the trailer doesnt match with the soundtrack because i just joined it with the video afterwards in order to uploaded some visuals on youtube (but i didn't do it for that video) :P

thank you very much...but actually i have stuff who sound much but muchhh more realistic...the thing is i don't know who to upload mp3 on the internet without them being available for download...if u know how to upload them without that option u can tell me and i will show you much more realistic stuff that i composed :P

box.net, I always use that site. Uploading is free till 24 MB or something. Nice piece! How did you get those realistic sounds?

there's not a specific technique... the thing is... i think u guys are pretty much composers...I'm a composer too however i started as a producer (making hiphop and rnb beats) so as a producer we kind of develop ways to make the instruments sound as real as possible doing a proper mixing and mastering afterwards learning how to work with effects filters etc etc... however i also self learned how to deceive the ear making the instruments sound more realistic through composition techniques that each producer develops.

This might sound a bit controversial but if u guys listen to mainstream hiphop it might give you some tips..cos hiphop producers are expert in making instruments sound real. :P

Hey i'm right there with you, i approached composing from a producer's background.

I think this sounds great man, props!

Welcome to YC.

It's always nice to write in your post what programs and VST's you are using to do your music. It makes it easier for others to decide what they may want to purchase themselves.

As you said, the piece does not follow the trailer very well but it is a nice upbeat little piece.

If you look at some of the other subforums here you will see that a lot of posts get very little recognition and/or feedback and yet here in incidental, each post gets a number of comments. This is because we in this section each try to comment on each other's posts. It is only fair if someone takes the time to listen and comment on a piece of yours, that you return the favor.

On any site you host your music, the piece can be downloaded. That is just the way the internet is. It may be easier to do on one site as compared to another, but there are programs on the market that make it easy to download anything that can be listened to.

I do hope you decide to join in with the rest of us and participate as much as you can. This site works its best when its members communicate with each other.

ok guys im gonna try to participate as much as i can

BY THE WAYYYYYYYYYY

i put on my very first post (the first post on the first page) the other soundtrack i have who is EVENNN MORE REALISTIC than the first one u guys heard!!!!

this last one (who is in mp3) is what i can do maximum in terms of making it sound real so i would like you guys to tell me what u think :D:D:D

by the way...for the Wall-e one i used a crappy VST which is GPO Refill for Reason

however the second one (the more realistic one) i used a decent Orchestral VST - EastWest Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra.

about you rolifer, i'm gonna try to comment as much as possible in the other posts aswell thnks for the tip ;)

Great to hear that you will join in with us. That is what makes this site work.

I have EWQLSO Gold and EWQL RA along with GPO. I have been using GPO a lot more lately just because I have a lot more control over the instruments. I find EWQL products to be too limiting in many ways. All of that inherent reverb found in EW products make it easy to use straight out of the box, but limits the composer in other ways.

So I greatly disagree with GPO being crappy. IMO in the right hands (not mine.... yet) it can sound more realistic than EWQL.

Ron

Edit: The second link in your thread comes up with wrong file

dont get me wrong...i said GPO Refill...i also have GPO VST and it is really nice...but the refill i find it really crap :S lolol even after a good mix and master it never sounds as real as EWQLSO (at least i could never make it sound as good as that lOLOL)
