Fantasy for piano trio in F minor

Featured Replies

Hey,

I wrote this peice a little while ago. I didn't want to post it at first because I thoughed it would be to incoherent to enjoy. But after a listen today I dicided to post it anyway. It has a very strange form. It's ment to portray a dream. So it's incoherent at best. I decided to post it, because I feel it is an intersting piece actualy. When I listen to it while keeping in mind I listeting to a dream I like it. It does give me the occasional 'where is it going'-feel, but at the end the harmony does kind of tie the piece back together. I'm curious what you think of it. Keep in mind that's it's someone's dream while listening, otherwise it isn't much fun.

As you said it is quite strange and a bit incoherent. I know it was supposed to be but perhaps it is a little too much. ;)

However, I thought the harmonies were more effective and the way the parts interacted. :)

I do think the piece has promise. Maybe you could use some of it as an introduction to a more structured piece? I think one of the problems is that it doesn't develop properly into a main section. My composition teacher once told me that I wrote something that didn't really get going and I know what he meant. Maybe you could write a further section with a strong melody and more structure to help balance the dreaminess of other bit? Maybe you could begin and end with the dream?

I've taken your advise to heart Nota Bene. (Interesting name.. How did you think of it? It's the official variant of P.s in Dutch in correspondences.)

I have written a main theme and a reoccurring melody. I think it's more coherent now.
