Hello ALL YOU SHINING, BRIGHT FACES!!!!!!

This is Morivou here! I am posting my first piano work since forever now. This piece was originally conceived as a chromatic toccata, but it slowly shifted away into a... Jazz? idiom. Kind of reminiscent of Nikolai Kapustin at times... sometimes Bernstein... sometimes even Ben Folds.

My purpose for writing this was to reacquaint myself with my keyboard and not only my piano skills, but my necessary techniques to be able to accompany my Opera I am about to write. I thought "WHAT KIND OF PIECE uses technical skills.. let's me write openly and freely, and can be in my own personal style.." Naturally my mind came to my old Toccatas, which I wrote when I was 15. They were the LAST thing I wrote for Piano. Since then, I have been STRICTLY Choral music (with ONE piano piece for experimentation and ONE Woodwind Trio for a competition). But, since I am writing an Opera with Orchestra... I need to remember how to score for piano/write well for Piano Reduction/etc.

SO, that being said...

Have fun. It's a bit like a seizure, one of my friends told me... haha.

Fun, catchy theme in a spazzy way; this song made me laugh. I could clearly catch the theme.

My favorite part was the theme's variation around measures 25-40.

Reminds me of some of the jazz pieces I hear on public radio.

I enjoyed this! Great use of jazz harmonies; sounds like something I'd have written last year, except actually playable, haha. Great work!

Still would be a beezy to play though, hah.

Thanks to both of you! There are some points where I laugh in this song too. It's a part of my music to include humor and light-hearted-ness. And, yeah, Jazz is a big influence on my music.

To Nico: We've already talked, but thanks again! I always appreciate your input. I will definitely comment your Quartet tomorrow.

This was very fun to listen to imo.

Good job!

Good job!

Thank you very much! :D

Nice! A worthy Piano piece!

And yet... this piece frightens me! The final chord is... terrifying! My goodness!

Well done! :)

Can I try it? Perform it?

Go for it.

Wow, this is a very fun piece, I enjoyed it! Is it playable though, I can't imagine anyone being that good, but I haven't listened to piano much so I could be wrong...
