Lord of the Castle

Hey! A week before a guy e-mailed me that he wants to use one of my old unfinished theme (Medieval battles) in his flash game. We discussed the things and I decided to write a totally new main theme for the game and an ingame music.

I week after I'm almost finished with the main theme, I have to fix some things in it, especially in the end, maybe write additional parts. I post it unfinished (98% finished) because I go to holyday for a week and it will be good if you can share your thoughts about it till I come back. After the holyday I finish it totally.

The game is not finished yet but it's 95% finished. I checked the game and it's fun i think, a good flash game. I said the guy that he can only use the theme if he post my name (Norbert M

Well, it is very dramatic, but it does get rather boring after a while, but then you bring on this cool ending... and it is too short :P

Perhaps you could make the ending longer.... because the ending is awesome ;)

Its interesting because I think the ending is a piece of scraggy in this form anyway:D

Please Heckel say where you get bored. Thanks. Anyway its such a short piece to someone get bored of it but it is possible of course.

Well, it's not boring. There are plenty of interesting shifts in dynamics, articulations, and great orchestral color. But, I believe, in my honest opinion, it is a bit "on the nose".

What do I mean?

Well, when I read the title of your work the music was exactly how I imagined it before I listened. And that's not necessarily a bad thing especially in the game music business. It's a well crafted piece. But, in my opinion, I thing it deserves a bit more variety. Something that would make it stand out. What that certain something would be - I'm not sure - your the author.

Overall, you definitely have talent and I'm sure the game & music will be successful.

As for the ending. It really didn't bother me as it stands now.

Micheal I understand you. I forget to mention that I had to write it in a week and I dont like when have to stick to timeline! Usually I write a minute than maybe dont have any idea for a month than I continue with another minute.

I dont like force things even in music composing but I had to sit down and write dispite there were days that I really dont want to. So within a week I could do this, (this is maybe a record for me) so dont expect more variety. It is hard to compose without spirit even if spirit comes ones a month. Thanks for your comment anyway....

(Dont even now what to want as standout on such a piece but nevermind...If you have any ideas how to make it standout please say)

(Oh one more thing I just thought...the guy asked me to be this like (march like, war-style music). I would made some largo parts in it if I just compose not to a game, but I musnt do that if you understand. I struggle to make my music standout, but in this situation I had to do a march-war like feel so I tried to write textures like that...)
