Can a flute fluttertongue the lowest notes?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I`m currently writing a wind trio and have recently purchased finale 2010 so I can finally really use my East West libraries. Anyway, I wrote some low fluttertonguing with the low B and a Db. They played fine through GPO but the east west library will not recognize these notes, so now I`m wondering if they`re impossible in real life. Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Jackson

It's certainly not impossible....however, some players may find it more difficult.

No, they're not impossible. Fluttertonguing is fairly easy throughout the range of the flute; it's only more difficult once you reach A6 or higher.

Not necessarily true; the lowest notes of the flute are rather difficult to flutter without losing actual tone. There's of course the uvular flutter which solves this problem, but most flutists don't know how to do that, and use their actual tongues instead.

I only use uvular fluttering. :)

Clever clever. :]

i think who can play frullato, should be able to play that... Not easy, but it's okay. :) you just compose andthe flutist should play and shut up, if it's phisically playable :D

good luck
