Al Vertice Della Follia - For Orchestra and Chorus

Al Vertice Della Follia - MP3 and Stream at Soundclick

Yeah it's been a long time since I've composed anything. Considering I am going to university for photography, it's hard to take the time to write music! But this is my latest composition, and a rather "large" one- this piece utilizes an orchestra, full chorus, and piano!

"Al Vertice Della Follia", or "The Pinnacle of Madness", is what may lead to several more chorus-orchestral pieces. I've always thought about writing a Requiem/Mass but never really got around to it.

I think the strings steal the show here. They are constantly moving in sixteenth notes with barely a rest between sections (especially the violas). The brass and woodwinds act as more of an accent than anything else.

Anyhoo, enough babble. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Thought that it had a good dramatic quality. The harmonic movement was not the most original: the step-wise descent to the dominant in a minor key etc, but I liked the major section and the hemiola rhythm that bound it all together. Well done.

wow man thats impressive, Carl Orff would be proud! excellent modulations and orchestrations...what samples did you use? im putting this on my iPod :)

I use East West Quantum Leap's Symphonic Orchestra (Siliver) and Voices of the Apocalypse. They sound great!

??? :O The beginning surprised me a bit dude

It's good...very good...but the beginning...no prologue or something...nooo..DANG DANG DANG...its not a beginning, you have to lead the way to that forte-s...and its not and ending...you should work on it..anyway very nice! Keep on composing!

(Of course if just a sample to show your skills than fine everything..)
