A Road Less Traveled

Featured Replies

This road does not seem to want to diverge.

I know that it is not finished yet, so the ending that is there is just thrown on for now.

This piece is all GPO 4 and was composed in Sonar 8.

Heya Ron!

GPO4 sounds preeeetty! How are you finding it compared to previous versions?

Anyway, this is an extremely pleasant, pastoral sort of sound except you take it to some excellent heights of nobility. There's a definite game music feel to it, only it's not exactly consistent in its mood or pacing; lots of ground being covered here. Was there a specific thing you had in mind while writing this or was it just an exercise?

The middle portion almost has a carnival vibe until it slows back down to the quiet pastoral feeling. You've made excellent use of the woodwinds here, I like that. I'm curious to see where you'll take it...it meanders a lot so I'd like to see how you tie it all together, if at all.

Good work though, thanks for sharing the WIP!

This is so much fun to listen to! I am enjoying your music so much! Great harmonic and rhythmic ideas!! It would be amazing to hear this with a live orchestra. It wouldn't be a waste of time! haha!

Like you had mentioned. The ending is a little too sudden. Maybe you could bring it right down and then bring it all the way back up! haha!

GREAT JOB!! :) Thank you for sharing..

Long time no see!

All my life when I wanted a job, I just called up the people that were looking for someone and I was hired right away. In the last couple of weeks I have been on 2 interviews for jobs that I wanted pretty bad. This piece just chronicles my experiences in these weeks. I think it shows some excitement at getting offered an interview, then preparing to sell myself for these jobs. I had to wait to find out if I was hired and then my despair at not being offered the first job. Then it was back to getting ready for the next interview and the wait time after that one. Then the bad news hit again. But after that, I find out that soon I will have another interview for an even better position.

So my last few weeks have been up and down which I think this piece shows.

The road less traveled in this is the road I am on that I have never been on before.

Today I added another 30 seconds to the piece and it is off in another direction. I will probably get another few minutes of material out of that 30 seconds and it will be interesting to see where the piece goes after that. A lot of that depends on whether or not I get the job.

Kevin

As I said above, I added 30 seconds to it. It does go down and then back up, so I guess I kind of took your advice there. Of course I would love to have any of my works performed, but since I don't even try to make that happen, I sort of doubt it ever will. But I hope to get a high school ensemble soon to at least try some of my pieces. We'll see.

Thanks guys

Ron

:) Good luck!

Well I seem to imagine:

Two roads fighting each other.

And then over a very short period of time (30 seconds of the piece?).

One road wins.

And then it's simply following that one road.

And all of the adventures on that path.

(Though you did say the paths don't want to diverge, I think they do very early :/)

I like it.

It has a very surreal kind of atmosphere. I like that a lot. Lots of complex harmony and progression..

I think it's quite nice. Kind of reminds me of Holst's Op 32. "Jupiter" for no real reason at all hehe

Nice work! ;)
