September 27, 200916 yr I really like the idea of this. Although i dont get the harmonies you use; can you tell a bit more about them? I you are interessted, I've writen some modern fugues as well. Not (yet) posted on this forum, an example can be listened at op59_2b.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage. Its from a series of 6 preludes and fugues for organ
September 27, 200916 yr Author Actually, the harmonies don't follow any certain rule. I just wanted to use something rare or unusual, but not to unfamiliar.
September 28, 200916 yr Wow, this was a breath of fresh air from all the baroque style fugues. You took something that was already here and has been here for a long time and made it your own (even though there are many modern fugues out there). I really enjoyed this piece, the harmonies were very interesting and compelling. I enjoyed that I can hear your compositional voice through out the piece despite being in a very strict forum. The only thing I have issue with it that at some points the note choices made the piano sound like it hit a wrong note. Also there are some notational problems as far as range in the left hand. Some parts just looked really hard to play in one hand, so you might look through it and check that. Other than that, I loved the piece, keep up the nice work.
September 28, 200916 yr Author I'm glad you like it. I'm aware of the problems you mentioned. Some notes in the 3rd voice (tenor) can be played with the right hand (although they're written in the F clef). But there are still some chords that can not be played unbroken. Maybe I could shorten some note lengths (for example when you're supposed to hold a note in one voice and play something far away in another voice at the same time with the same hand). Anyway I'll try to make it more "playable" without changing it too much  Some notes may sound strange, even like they're wrong, but i think the ensemble is rather strong so I'm pretty satisfied ;)
October 1, 200916 yr I loved the harmonies in this. Great piece. I'm not sure exactly what else to say since I'm not too educated about fugues and any other comments I make will probably be off base, but I really enjoyed listening to this.
October 15, 200916 yr I like this - very good work. Reminiscent of a lot of more modern fugues ive heard various places! Good job!
