Orchestral Intro

Featured Replies

Here is a baroque-militaristic-splendour style orchestral intro I'm working on. I need help filling in some parts and the like. Feel free to not just edit, but add sequences, instruments, whatever you want.

NOTES:

Bars 8-10: Happy with violins, not sure about violas, woodwinds not-so-happy with, trumpets are also good.

Bars 13-half of 16: Would like something a little more complicated for the flutes, but I think it works.

Bars half of 16-half of 23: Not sure what to do with violas, trumpets, violas, flutes, and bass.

Again, let your creativity run wild and do whatever you want to this piece. Any impute and editing is welcome.

Thanks.

Well, apparently I need Acrobat Distiller or something like that to make a PDF file.

?????????

Primo PDF

That's the one I use; It's free.

When posting scores on here I always find it's a good idea to post a pdf score for those of us who do not have the same (if any) notation software as others...

Here's what little I can add:

First off, I think you know it needs to go somewhere else now, but you've got to end what you started. I'd hold that last chord until beat 3 just to close out that idea and go into whatever comes next, but I don't know what you plan to do.

Bars 8-10: Violas are fine. I think what you might be looking for in the woodwinds here is to make that second eighth note in the flutes into 2 sixteenth notes, to bring them into the melody. Also, 13-16 looks good enough for the flutes, as far as I can tell.

In 16-23, you may want just to change it up a bit and give it less of a tutti feel. That's all I can get from it.

Otherwise, it sounds good! It's certainly traditional, but that's not a bad thing. Well done!

P.S. I know this is something more fit for editing once you've actually finished the piece, but I think you need to change up some dynamics to bring out different parts here and there.

I wanted to post a PDF, but Finale tells me I need Acrobat distiller which costs money.

I downloaded Primo, but I don't really know what to do with it.

Okay, so the choris comes in on the first beat of that last bar, but I'm leaving that for now.

Thanks for the other pointers. I will keep those in mind. :)

You can set your printer options so that it prints to primo pdf. This won't create a print out copy, but create the pdf document.

Audibly it sounds nice BUT would really like to analyze the score to better make an informed opinion of what your trying to do AND offer suggestions. Primo, as ff stated, and PDF creator are both free progs that will create PDF files of ur scores.
