My first piano piece

Featured Replies

First of all, I really did enjoy this piece and it is quite alright (on the whole) in terms of musicality.

I have one criticism, however.

When you first go to major in bar 9, the notes in the right hand do not fit well harmonically with the left hand chords (specifically beat 3). The problem is you have an F# an A in the left hand and an E and G# in the right hand. Because you have an A and a G#, the consequent sound is a clash (a minor second or a major 7th). To fix it you might want to exchange the E and G# into a more fitting duplet such as A and C# which would fit the (evident) F# major chord. The problem with these clashing notes reappears throughout the major section. It is also eminent in in the quadruplet chords later and in other places.

Overall it was a very good piece and with a little revisioning, you should have quite a nice sounding piece on your hands.

Thankyou for taking the time to critique it, or just listening to it for that matter.

So that harmony is unacceptable then?

If I change it in the slightest it loses the musical/melodic intent I had,

Are there any other ways of fixing it without removing the right hands melody... or is that even possible?
