Why did some peoples posts go down? Marius' went down like over 100 posts. Mine went down a few and some others did too, while others didn't move. Why is that?

Yeah, I don't get it... My posts went down and they say the FFA posts no longer count, but when I post there it shows my post count go up. Are you sure you all just didn't feel like dropping some peoples post count? This is some poor site management at times.

Not counting posts made in the FFA forum towards total user post count was a proposal put forward by a moderator. Just as an experiment, I configured the board to not count posts in the FFA forum and then rebuilt everyone's post counts. I made a note of the changes and then reset everything back. This could not have taken more than about 30 seconds. If you noticed any changes, you were probably around for that brief period yesterday when I did it, although I find myself wondering why you didn't raise it until today.

Your post count still goes up when you post in the forum because it's back to how it's always been - posts in the FFA forum will increment your post count just like in any other forum. And your total post count still reflects the posts you have made in that forum.

We would never (foreseeably) deliberately drop an individual user's post count for any reason. This was just a little experiment which probably nobody but you noticed, Jeremy, and it won't become policy for the time being at least. Everything's under control.

Marius asked for virtually all of his topics to be deleted recently and all deleted topics are stored in a trash can forum before being deleted forever, so the act of emptying the trash can (which I did a few days ago) probably caused his count to drop suddenly. I assume other deleted material is the culprit for your count dropping too.

Judging by a Google-cached page I just found, your post count was 254 on 23 Apr 2006 11:55:25 GMT. Right now it's 253, suggesting that it did indeed drop slightly.

Still, your current post count is entirely reflective of everything you have ever posted here that didn't happen to be deleted (e.g. part of a deleted topic), so rest assured there are no technical issues.

Ah, Ok... That makes sense. I had you delete a topic I started that I had posted in quite a bit.

I am sorry that I said the site was poorly run concerning this matter, it appears it was well run.

Jeremy
