Hurried and off Balance

I wrote this over the summer and revised and finally finished it this month. Here are the program notes for the piece:

Comments would be very much appreciated.

This was very interesting! Lots of nice things! I listened to this a few times and like it more each time.

I really liked the pizzicato section...it was very unexpected and refreshing.

I like where you were trying to go with the unexpected 7/8 measures thrown in there, but they seemed kind of out of place to me. I realize the title is "Hurried and Off Balance," but the placement struck me as odd. I think you can do something much more innovative in measures 54 and 55 than opposing chromatic lines. It was borderline cheesy to my ears. Speaking of cheesy, measures 87 and the final measure were EXTREMELY cheesy to me.

I didn't mean to dwell on the negatives here, because I really like this piece. Nice job!

Haha, this was a very good piece. Fun, great! I agree with collin that the end was maybe a bit too cheesy, and therefore more predictable than other parts. Maybe you could make that more "off balance" ;)

The 7/8 was fine, I liked it very much

Thanks for sharing

I liked this a lot. Liked the piano more than the strings, but there was a lot more natural feel to the sound - live players on the strings would have brought it more to life, of course.

I liked what you were doing rhythmically, and texture wise. It kept flowing and moving around in a way that kept my interest up. But after a while, I wanted a bit more of a bigger change, it got a bit relentless.

All that being said, one very cool piece of music. It's tough to do something that angular, and make it come out so musical, if that makes sense.

Thanks to all that replied.

Yeah the ending was cheesy, however it was due to the fact that the piece was suppose to be humorous. I think what happened is that the beginning wasn't cheesy and cheeky enough thus making the ending seem out of place.
