String Quartet

This is my first string quartet attempt. It is very alike to a choral peice that I posted about a month ago. Check it out here. I revised a few things and decided that since I had no words, I might as well investigate other options. The major problem I think is the lack of movement in the two lower parts and the repetiveness. I found no good way to solve this while maintaining the feel that I wanted. If anyone has suggestions on that, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for you feedback!

Very good! Very very good! I loved the simplicity of it. Perhaps some dynamic changes at places?

It sounded a lot like Thomas Newman's music, a lot of that; your use of chords is very simplistic yet complicated - I would stay away from those suspensions if I were you - makes it sound a bit too retro for the mood you're trying to achieve.

Thanks! And I agree with you about the dynamic ranges, I just never ended up actually putting them on the score. And since I'm not very educated in lots of musical theory, could you specify where the suspensions would be? It's probably a very simple question, but I don't have any idea.

--The contrabass really supports and strengthens the sound of the other strings.

--The violin's path at the beginning is pretty cliche: the writing itself is good and strong, but the actual path of the violin is just the whole "one note down each two measures" deal that makes the listener feel like they've heard the song before they've even heard it the first time!

--What you have so far is great, but the piece is begging to be lengthened and developed!
