Together Now

Featured Replies

There's not a whole lot to say about this song... lyrically it's pretty important to me but I'm not sure how people generally react to pop stuff on this board.

Together Now

For a reason I absolutely cannot explain, your voice reminds me of Tracy Chapman O)O Isn't that crazy?!

Anyways, I think this is pretty good! Your voice goes out of key just few times, but it's mostly good. And I like the tone: bittersweet pop songs tend to be very memorable!

Sadly, I don't think Pop songs get a lot of attention on this site, which isn't fair, but I think it's looked down on quite a bit: Pop is viewed as a plague by many musicians, and one can't exactly blame them, as there is an over-saturation of uninspired and "fake" pop that has left a bad taste in many musicians' mouths, but I think that it's time for people to get over themselves and stop being biased toward the whole style ^_^

Keep up the good work! :)

What? Real recording? No wai!

I'll let the performance problems go for now -- but be aware that you should keep everything right if you're going to release something, even to here.

Now a few recording things: Firstly, it's not bad for a demo. What i'd like to see is more fullness in the guitar, so the music fills the holes in the vocal line better. You could get that a few ways with EQ or creative compression, or even some reverb. What program did you use? I can be a bit more specific with more information.

Ack, another short song. But it was sweet and not saccharine. I'd like to see more, but it might ruin it.

I like the feel change in the 'chorus' (of a measure long :D)

Everything was good to go until that fairly out of place theramin like sound - I imagine that it is probably just a technical issue with the mic or something like that - but it is fairly distracting, so I feel I should mention it.

I think the length works well - any longer and I think you would border on redundancy. However, if you added something, I could definitely hear a bittersweet harmonica solo later on - something instrumental to provide a nice contrast to the mostly vocal work. The vocal harmonies could even go underneath that as well.

Like I always say, this is your song, and these are my thoughts. If anything I said is useful, then awesome - if not, then don't sweat it.

I think this is a great piece and encourage you to continue making pieces like this. I also think you have a great voice :D.

My only critisism is that I would've prefered maybe another instrument in there - maybe drums or a piano? I think with one more instrument it would sound even better than it is now.

However, its your song and if you like it with only the guitar, I think it also works very well.
