Yasamune
Anyone know what the written range for a soprano Recorder in C would be? or should I use a different instrument for this, and so, what would you suggest using and please don't say Piccolo since the piccolo has an extremely involved part in the piece. James H.
I apologise for the appearance of the Wiki currently, for it is not integrated with the forum theme yet, but the information is still on there. :) http://wiki.youngcomposers.com/Recorder So, essentially C5 to D7. I could provide recordings myself if you so wish, would take about 3 minutes of my time tomorrow morning.
whateverfin
I would think you might want to keep pretty much away from the high C and D on the recorder range...it tends to get shrill and obnoxious up there.
James H.
C two lines above the staff? That's a fine note. So is D. The high E is the one that isn't so pretty. But then again, this could all be evaluated differently depending on what context you're putting the sounds into.
HeckelphoneNYC
I agree with James... And yes the range is C5 to D7.
James H.
Oh by the way! I was wrong. Written range is C4 to D6. The sounding range is C5 to D7, since it technically transposes at the octave. :)
